The Governing Board at Padiham St Leonard’s  Church of England Primary School is made up of governors from all parts of our community, including parents, representatives from the Church of England and staff at the school.

The role of a school governor is demanding but very rewarding  and is a good way to give back to your local community.  School governing boards are responsible for working with the school to ensure that it delivers a good quality education. Together with the headteacher, who is responsible for day-to-day leadership and management, they set the school’s aims and policies:

– To ensure clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
– To hold the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance management of staff
– To oversee the financial performance of the school and make sure its money is well spent

Our Governing Board has worked hard in school supporting, challenging and monitoring the performance of the school, in committee meetings ensuring that plans are in place to meet the strategic needs of the school and in their specialist roles through  Health and Safety walks, Learning walks, interviews with pupils and discussions with subject leaders.

The governing body meets once a term with three further committee meetings each term. These committees are:

Resources  – who  review the staffing structure,  ensure best value in the spending of the budget and review building projects and plans.

Curriculum – who monitor the impact of teaching on standards of attainment and achievement and ensure  the St Leonard’s curriculum  aligns with our Christian foundation and meets the needs of our pupils.

Church School Distinctiveness – who review the ethos of the school and monitor the impact of the RE curriculum and worship.
