Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE)

At St Leonard’s we believe that PSHE is an essential part of the Curriculum. It is at the heart of our day to day lives, reflecting and reinforcing our Christian ethos.

Within our school community there is a need for everyone to understand the importance of good social and interpersonal skills. Good relationships between the children themselves, and between the children and the staff, are essential in creating a supportive learning environment.

By providing our children with the opportunity to explore interpersonal behaviour and how this effects the individual, group and the community, we will give them the confidence and independence that will help them become informed and responsible citizens.

As part of our Health Education programme, we provide information about healthy eating, caring for the body and, at the end of Key Stage 2, a structured programme of drugs education, including tobacco and alcohol. We also deliver a programme of Sex Education.

Our children enjoy thinking of others and are eager to help others, both in the local community  and around the world.
